USNA Men's Glee Club Under the direction of Dr. J. B. Talley, the Men's Glee Club is one of the finest male choruses in the country. A highlight in their performance cycle is an annual production of Handel's Messiah in the USNA Chapel, done in cooperation with the USNA Women's Glee Club, the Hood College Choir, and the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. The Masqueraders Formed in 1845, The Masqueraders are the Naval Academy's oldest extra-curricular activity. This fall, in addition to Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, they are producing a midshipman-written and midshipman-directed play, Miss Understood. The USNA Art Club At one time, the Department of Drawing, founded in 1851, taught Midshipmen the skills of mechanical and topographical drawing, the use of mathematical instruments, painting, and the application of these skills. Today, the Brigade Art Club continues the long tradition of Naval Academy art, promoting the gentleman scholar and future officer by studying the work of master artists and practicing the artistic skills of attention to detail, spatial awareness, creation, and self-expression. |
